Business Intelligence (BI)
Traditional analytics tools. Sentient argues BI is fundamentally retrospective-'autopsy reports.'
Definition
Business Intelligence (BI) encompasses traditional analytics tools-dashboards, reports, data visualization. BI answers 'What happened?' It's fundamentally retrospective. Sentient OS argues that BI produces 'autopsy reports'-valuable for understanding the past, but too late to change it. The decision layer is prospective: 'What do we do next?' Sentient integrates with BI tools; we don't replace them. But we add a layer that transforms BI output (and underlying data) into real-time, prescriptive decisions. BI informs; Sentient executes. The platform consumes data from BI infrastructure and produces actions-closing the gap between insight and execution.
Why It Matters
BI is retrospective. Sentient is prospective. We add the decision layer that transforms insight into action.
